A two-day training on Best Management Practices (BMP) for Oil Palm was held at Okomu Oil Company, Edo State, from October 23rd to 24th, 2025. The training was organized by Okomu Oil Company to educate TA Commodity Extension Officers on effective, sustainable, and modern methods for managing oil palm plantations, aiming to enhance productivity and profitability.
Objectives of the Training
The training aimed to:
1. Train trainers on practices that minimize environmental impact.
2. Strengthen knowledge of improved oil palm management techniques.
3. Enhance understanding of soil preparation, nursery management, field maintenance and field audit.
4. Promote sustainable practices that improve yield while protecting the environment.
5. Equip Extension Officers with practical field skills for effective plantation management.
